QR check-in asks members to sign in

Why scanning a program session's QR code asks for a sign-in, and what to do when check-in fails.

Self check-in for a program session records attendance for the person who is signed in. That is why NizamOS asks for a sign-in first: it needs to know who is checking in. Visitors without a NizamOS account can't use the QR code.

"Sign in to check in"#

  1. Select Sign in.
  2. Sign in with your NizamOS email and password.
  3. You are sent back to the same check-in link and checked in.

If you don't have a NizamOS sign-in, ask the session's organizer to mark you present by hand instead.

"Check-in failed" messages#

  • "You are not an active member of this group." — your account isn't on the program's member list. The organizer can add you on the program's Members tab, or mark you present by hand. People who registered for just one session are also marked by hand.
  • "This check-in link has been replaced." — the organizer generated a new link. Scan the new QR code.
  • "This check-in link has expired." — check-in links last 3 hours. The organizer can open a new attendance session.
  • "This attendance session is closed." — the organizer closed check-in. Ask them to mark you by hand.
  • "Too many attempts." — wait a few minutes and try again.
  • "This check-in link is invalid." — the link is incomplete or wrong. Scan the QR code again.

You're already checked in#

If you see "You're already checked in", your attendance was already recorded. Nothing else is needed.

For organizers#

  • Show the QR code only to members of the program, and use Close session when check-in is over.
  • Manual marking on the session page always works, so nobody is left out. See Take session attendance and QR check-in.
  • If a member signs in with a different email from the one on their People record, check-in may not find them as a member. Ask them to use the email the organization has on file.
