Focus, High Focus and Iqamah screens and timing settings
How the display changes before each Iqamah, and how to set the Focus, High Focus, Iqamah hold and rotation timings.
Before each Iqamah, the Main Mosque TV moves from its normal rotation to a series of focus screens so people know when the prayer is about to start. The timings are set by Organization Admins and Super Admins on Mosque TV → TV Settings, under Display settings.
What happens before each Iqamah#
- Normal rotation. The Prayer Board shows for the Prayer Board display time, then each active announcement and poster shows in turn, then the board again.
- Focus. From the Focus Mode lead time before the Iqamah, slides stop. The screen shows a large countdown to the Iqamah, with the day's Iqamah times and the ticker below.
- High Focus. From the High Focus Mode lead time, the timetable and ticker disappear and the screen shows one large countdown.
- Iqamah. At Iqamah time the screen shows IQAMAH and "Please straighten the rows, close the gaps, and silence your phone." for the Keep Iqamah on screen for time, then returns to the Prayer Board.
Change the timings#
- Open Mosque TV → TV Settings.
- Under Display settings, change the timings you want (the allowed ranges are listed below).
- Choose Save settings. Open screens pick up the change within about a minute.
The settings and their allowed values:
- Focus Mode starts before prayer (minutes): 2 to 120, and more than the High Focus time.
- High Focus Mode starts before prayer (minutes): at least 1.
- Keep Iqamah on screen for (seconds): 10 to 900.
- Default seconds per announcement/poster: 3 to 120. Each slide can override this.
- Prayer Board display time (seconds): 10 to 300.
Good to know#
- The settings apply to every screen. On a Prayer Display, Focus does not hide the timetable; it highlights the next prayer and shows a ticking countdown instead.
- If a prayer has no Iqamah time on a date (for example, a date missing from a custom Iqamah schedule), there is no countdown, Focus or Iqamah screen for it.
- On Fridays there is no countdown, Focus or High Focus for Dhuhr or Jumu'ah; the normal rotation continues. The Iqamah screen still shows at Iqamah time. See Jumu'ah times and Friday behaviour.
- The countdown uses NizamOS's clock, not the TV's own clock, so it stays correct even if the TV's clock is a little off.
