Madrasa overview and first-time setup
What the Madrasa module does and how to set up academic years, programs, levels, locations, fee plans and progress areas in Madrasa settings.
The Madrasa module runs an Islamic school inside NizamOS: families, students, registrations, classes, teachers, attendance, progress, monthly fees, announcements, and portals for parents and teachers. Organization Admins and Super Admins manage it. Madrasa is part of the NizamOS Core plan and above.
The Madrasa sections#
In NizamOS, the Madrasa group in the sidebar has Families, Students, Registrations, Classes, Attendance, Fees, Teachers, Bulk Import (Super Admins only), Announcements and Madrasa settings.
Set up the building blocks#
Open Madrasa settings. Work through the tabs in this order:
- Academic Years — select Add Academic Year. Enter a name such as 2026–2027 and the start and end dates. Tick Registration open when families may register for that year. You can also open or close registration from the table.
- Programs — select Add Program, for example Weekend Qur'an or Hifz. Choose its Gender eligibility: Co-ed, Boys only or Girls only.
- Levels — optional levels within a program, such as Level 1. The Sort order sets where each level appears in pickers, lowest first.
- Locations — where classes are held, with an address and an optional division.
- Fee Plans — what families pay each month. See Madrasa monthly fees and payments.
- Registration Links — public forms families use to apply. See Madrasa registration links and applications.
- Progress Areas — the subjects you rate students on, such as Tajweed. An area can belong to one program or be shared by all programs.
- Online Payments — shows whether parents can pay fees online. See Online Madrasa fee payments.
Then add your school#
- Add families and students, or import them. See Add Madrasa families and students and Bulk import Madrasa students and teachers.
- Create classes and assign teachers. See Set up Madrasa classes and teachers.
- Take attendance and record progress. See Madrasa attendance and progress.
- Invite parents to the portal. See The Madrasa Parent Portal.
Good to know#
- Madrasa programs are separate from the Programs section in the main sidebar. Madrasa programs are for your school only.
- Inactive programs, levels and locations stay on existing records, so nothing is lost when you switch them off.
- If your plan no longer includes Madrasa, administrators can still view existing Madrasa records, but new Madrasa activity stops until the plan is upgraded.
