A class is a teaching group inside one Madrasa program and academic year. Organization Admins create classes, place students, and assign teachers.

Create a class#

  1. In NizamOS, open Madrasa → Classes.
  2. Select New class.
  3. Choose the Academic year and Program, and enter the Class name.
  4. Optionally choose a Level, Location and Room, and set a Capacity and Schedule notes.
  5. Choose the class's Gender eligibility. It can differ from the program's.
  6. Save the class, then open it.

Add students to the roster#

  1. On the class page, select Add student.
  2. Pick a student. Only students with an approved registration for this class's program and academic year, who match its gender eligibility, are listed.
  3. Choose the Enrollment type, add notes if needed, and save.

On the roster you can select Transfer to move a student to another class in the same year and program, or Withdraw to end their enrollment. Both keep the old enrollment as history, and a withdrawn student can be enrolled again later.

Add a teacher#

Teachers use an existing People record. Adding a teacher never creates a new person.

  1. Open Madrasa → Teachers and select Add teacher.
  2. Choose the person. If they aren't in People yet, add them there first.
  3. Optionally add a start date, qualifications and notes, then save.

Assign a teacher to a class#

  1. On the class page, select Assign teacher. You can also select Assign class on the teacher's own page.
  2. Choose the teacher and a Role: Lead Teacher, Teacher, Assistant or Substitute.
  3. Save. Assigning a new Lead Teacher automatically ends the current Lead Teacher's assignment.

Select End to end an assignment. It stays on record, and the teacher can be assigned again later.

Teacher hours#

On a teacher's page, Teacher hours lets you log time. Select Add time entry, choose the date, and enter time in hours, such as 1.5.

Good to know#

  • Students placed through Bulk Import with a class name go straight into that class.
  • An inactive class keeps its history, but you can't add students or teachers to it.
  • Assigned teachers can take attendance and record progress in the Teacher Portal.
