The Hijri date appears on Mosque TV, on your website widget and across NizamOS. You can set how it is worked out so it matches the date your mosque follows. Organization Admins and Super Admins manage it under Settings → Organization, in the Islamic Calendar section.

Steps#

  1. Open Settings → Organization.
  2. Scroll to Islamic Calendar.
  3. Choose a Calendar method (described below).
  4. Set Islamic date adjustment to move the date by -2 to +2 days, if your mosque or local moon-sighting authority has announced a different date.
  5. Choose when the Day changes: At local midnight or At Maghrib.
  6. Check the preview, which shows today's Hijri date with your choices, then choose Save Islamic Calendar.

The calendar methods are:

  • Umm al-Qura: the Saudi-based calendar followed by many mosques and Islamic apps.
  • Islamic Civil / Tabular: a mathematical calendar with a fixed pattern of months, which can be a day or two from an announced date.

Good to know#

  • With At Maghrib, the Hijri date moves forward at that day's Maghrib Adhan, since the Islamic day begins at sunset. On a day with no Maghrib time saved, it changes at midnight instead. The preview shows the date before and after Maghrib.
  • The day is always taken from your organization's timezone, never from the TV's or a visitor's own clock.
  • Use the adjustment only for moon-sighting differences. If the date is off because the timezone is wrong, fix the Timezone on the same page instead. See Timezone and daylight saving.
  • Every screen and the website widget use the same setting, so you only set it once. Open screens pick up a change within about a minute.
  • On a Prayer Display, the Hijri date can be hidden per screen with the Hijri date switch.
