Committees coordinate members and tasks using the people already in your directory. Committees are part of the Core plan. Organization Admins and Super Admins create committees; the committee lead and admins manage its members, tasks and meetings.

Create a committee#

  1. Open Committees and choose Add Committee.
  2. Enter a Name, choose a Type (One-time or Recurring) and add a Description.
  3. Optionally choose a Division.
  4. Choose a Committee lead from People. The lead automatically becomes a Committee Lead for this committee.
  5. Set a Start date, an optional End date and a Status: Planning, Active, Completed or Inactive.
  6. Choose Save committee.

To change a committee later, use Edit a committee… on the Committees page.

Add members#

  1. Open the committee and go to the Members tab.
  2. Choose Add Member, pick an Existing person, and enter their Committee role (for example Treasurer).
  3. Choose Add member.

Members come from People, so add the person to People first if they aren't there. The lead always keeps the Lead role; to change the lead, edit the committee. Choose Remove to take someone off the committee.

Add and track tasks#

  1. On the Tasks tab, choose Add Task.
  2. Enter a Task title, Due date and Description.
  3. Choose the Assigned person (any committee member), a Priority (Low, Medium, High) and a Status (Not Started, In Progress, Completed).
  4. Choose Save task.

Tasks past their due date and not completed are marked Overdue. Completed tasks stay visible for history.

Good to know#

  • The committee page shows Members, Open tasks and Overdue counts, plus Meetings and Resources tabs. See Committee meetings and availability polls and Share files and links in the Resources library.
  • With the right automation rules on, NizamOS can remind people when a task is due or overdue. See Notifications and automation rules.
  • Archive (under Cleanup on the Overview tab) hides a committee from active lists and the dashboard but keeps its members, tasks and meetings. Use Show archived to find it and Restore it.
  • Only a Super Admin can permanently delete a committee, and only when it has no members, tasks, meetings or volunteer requests.
  • A person who has left the committee stays assigned to their tasks until someone picks a new assignee.
