Manage divisions
Create divisions to group the people in your organization, and use them across People, committees, programs and signup links.
Divisions group the people in your organization, for example Brothers, Sisters and Youth. Organization Admins and Super Admins manage them. Divisions are included in every plan.
Add a division#
- Open Organization settings → Divisions.
- Choose Add Division.
- Enter a Name and an optional Description.
- Leave Status as Active and choose Add division.
Edit or turn off a division#
- On Divisions, select the pencil button on the division's row.
- Change the name or description, or set Status to Inactive.
- Choose Save changes.
An inactive division can no longer be picked for new people, but people already in it keep it. Their record shows the division with "(Inactive)".
Where divisions are used#
- People — each person can belong to one division, and you can filter the directory by division.
- Division Lead — a role tied to one division. Give it in Organization settings → User Access. See Roles and permissions.
- Committees and volunteer requests — can optionally belong to a division. A volunteer request with a division recommends volunteers from that division.
- Signup links — can pre-assign a division, or let the visitor choose. See Public signup links.
- Bulk Import — the Division column must match the name of an active division.
Good to know#
- Two divisions can't have the same name. NizamOS says "A division with this name already exists."
- Divisions aren't deleted. Set one to Inactive instead, so history stays intact.
